# Pinpoint Joins Coalition Urging House to Pass the TAS Act Before Year's End

Pinpoint joins the National Taxpayers Union and a free-market coalition urging the House to pass H.R. 5349, the bipartisan Taxpayer Assistance and Service Act, before year's end.

Pinpoint Policy Institute has joined the National Taxpayers Union and a coalition of free-market groups in urging the House to pass H.R. 5349, the Taxpayer Assistance and Service (TAS) Act, before the year ends.
 The Senate passed the bill by unanimous consent on September 30, and the House has already passed nearly a dozen of its provisions. The bill creates no new licensing mandate. It caps continuing education for non-credentialed preparers at 18 hours and bars the IRS from reviving the licensing scheme struck down in Loving v. IRS.
 It also goes after fraud. The GAO estimates [tax fraud costs up to $304 billion a year](https://www.gao.gov/products/gao-26-107810), and the TAS Act adds penalties for "ghost preparers." For taxpayers, it brings IRS service dashboards, stronger rights, whistleblower protections, and more oversight.
 This is a rare bipartisan win for taxpayers. Congress should finish the job.
