# What We Do

Research is most useful when it reaches the debate it was written to inform.

Research & Analysis

Pinpoint produces original analysis and evaluates outside research on the policies shaping the American economy.

We look beyond headline numbers to the methodology, assumptions, incentives, and tradeoffs underneath them. When a new study becomes the basis for legislation or regulation, policymakers deserve to know whether the evidence supports the claims being made.

Our research focuses on the practical consequences of policy: what it means for investment, competition, jobs, wages, consumers, and economic growth.

Policymaker Education & Engagement

Research should reach the people making decisions.

Pinpoint participates directly in the policy process through testimony, regulatory comments, coalition letters, public meetings, and engagement with policymakers and staff.

We bring evidence into the room, explain the economic consequences of competing approaches, and make the case for policies that expand opportunity and growth.

Investigations & Accountability

Public policy is often shaped by organizations, coalitions, research institutions, and advocacy campaigns whose influence is not immediately visible.

Pinpoint uses public records, data analysis, financial disclosures, and source documents to examine that influence.

Our investigative work looks at the claims organizations make, the methods behind their research, the relationships surrounding their advocacy, and the information decision-makers should have before relying on their conclusions.

PESP Watch is one example of this work.

Communications & Public Engagement

Policy debates can change in a matter of hours.

Pinpoint is built to respond on that timeline.

We translate research and policy analysis into clear arguments for policymakers, the media, and the public. That includes commentary, rapid-response analysis, digital communications, earned media, and other work designed to bring evidence into a debate while it is still taking shape.

The goal is simple: make sure sound policy has an advocate when it matters.
