New Pinpoint Policy Institute Poll Shows Strong Support for Democratizing Investment Options in Workers’ 401(k) Plans

Trump Voters Support Reform by 65-Point Margin

WASHINGTON, DCPinpoint Policy Institute today released new polling conducted by Fabrizio Ward that shows Americans broadly support reforming 401(k) regulations to expand investment options to alternative assets like private equity. The national poll finds voters support this reform by a 57% – 13% margin, and it is even more popular among Trump voters, with a 71 – 8% margin.

The survey was conducted January 20-22 by national polling firm Fabrizio Ward. A memo outlining its results is available here. Topline findings include:

“From inflation to the solvency of Social Security, American workers face a number of risks to their retirement security,” said Pinpoint Executive Director Gordon Gray. “Democratizing access to alternative assets for future retirees can help by providing increased diversification and stronger portfolios. Pinpoint’s survey shows strong and broad support for these reforms, particularly among the coalition that re-elected President Trump in 2024.”

Further, the poll found that voters approve of the job President Trump is doing to start his second administration by a 6-point margin, 47% – 41%.
