Pinpoint Policy Institute Joins Coalition Urging Senate to Pass Regulatory Transparency Reforms

Today, Pinpoint Policy Institute joined the Competitive Enterprise Institute and a coalition of more than two dozen conservative and free-market organizations urging Senate Majority Leader Thune and Senator Paul to advance two bipartisan transparency reforms: the Guidance Out of Darkness (GOOD) Act (H.R. 1515) and the Information Quality Assurance Act (IQAA) (H.R. 6329).

Both bills have already passed the House with bipartisan support. The GOOD Act would require federal agencies to publish their non-regulatory guidance documents — so-called “regulatory dark matter” — in a centralized, searchable online portal, giving the public and regulated parties a clearer picture of federal regulatory activity. The IQAA would strengthen evidence-based policymaking by requiring agencies to ground their regulatory and guidance decisions in the best available data and make their methodologies transparent and open to public scrutiny.

Together, these practical reforms would bring long-overdue accountability to the rulemaking process and limit the ability of unelected bureaucrats to impose policy through the back door.
